Independent Private Institution academically attached by cooperation agreement with the USP, a reference in research and aeroponic innovation, builds scientific capacity and knowledge, integrating them into productive and environmental management initiatives in order to promote sustainable development.
Promote the improvement of the investigative capacity of aeroponics in natural and / or artificial ecosystems and its environmental and social adaptation. As well as its application in sustainable management, by influencing decision-making, the dissemination of scientific knowledge and technological innovation for the development of proposals and sustainable practices.
Through research we seek to generate scientific knowledge that allows better decision-making in the construction of a world that is respectful of the environment. To this end, the Sardegna Aeroponics Innovation Center plans to build state-of-the-art facilities by the end of 2022, which will support the ongoing development of research and studies in a timely response to the socio-ecological problem of food security and human dignity.
PROJETC 1. High Quality Potato Seed Production by Aeroponics
Most potato growers in developing countries do not use quality seed mainly due to its high cost. Environmental bans increase the cost of that seed. In vitro seedlings multiplied in sterile substrate usually only produce between 5 to 10 tubercles per plant. Seed production without substrate is possible using aeroponics, or cultivation in air. Aeroponics make better use of the vertical space of the GRETA-type greenhouse. The development of the root system and tubers is increased by the wide space and the optimal environment for its development (balance of air and humidity). As a result of this, foliage development also increases. It has been achieved, under experimental conditions, using aeroponics in phytotrons to obtain 13 tubercles per plant. Mass commercial production of quality potato seed using aeroponics is already underway in Korea and China. At the CIP-Huancayo experimental station (Peru), a production of more than 100 tubercles / plant was obtained using relatively simple and cheap materials. An analysis comparing the conventional production and aeroponics system shows clear economic advantages when using the aeroponics method.

PROJECT 2. Aeroponic cultivation of the Sweet Potato.
The sweetpotato crop corresponding to the group of roots and tubers, is a product used for human consumption and for the manufacture of animal concentrate, it is of creeping growth, its fruits are produced inside the soil, its planting material results from fragmentation the guides in pieces of three to four buds as well as the emission of buds from the tubers once induced by the effects of heat and humidity.
It is typical of a tropical climate and adapts to various types of soils. It is used for export to Europe and the United States. Traditionally, variety tests have been carried out on various types of soils and it offers good results, preferring francs to sandy loam. The objective of the research is the study of mass production in controlled environments, by the method of aeroponics and aquaponic symbiosis.
